It’s always nice to hear about locals doing things to make the world a better place. Take Pam and Terri for instance. Two women who started a charity called Helping Heroes Fly to provide airfare to enlisted military members, to allow them to be home with their families at important times.

“It broke my heart and made me angry to learn that often times for those who defend our country it’s considered a luxury to get home for a funeral, birth or holiday…not acceptable in our eyes!” — Terri Keeney
Helping Heroes Fly

Helping Heroes Fly is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based out of Greeley Colorado that launched in February of 2016. Their mission is to provide airfare to active military members to get home when they need to but can’t afford it. They helped 65 individuals get home for various occasions in 2016. They expect even more requests in 2017 and have already helped 24 so far.

These two women donate 100% of their time because their vision is to use at least 90% of all donations directly towards airfare to help military members.

One of their upcoming fundraising events is the Armed Forces Day 5K Color Run happening May 20th at Greeley West Park.

Our soldiers, who serve and sacrifice for all of us deserve to be with their families. Helping Heroes Fly, is one way two people from Greeley are making a difference.

Between events like the Helping Heroes Fly’s Color Run, reunions, picnics, parties, and sports, there are many ways residents can take advantage of Greeley’s Parks. (Did you know Greeley boasts more than 40 of them?) Visit this site for more information on park reservations, or to use the Park Finder map.
